Happy Halloween

Trick-or-treating is done for another year.  We had 57 beggars come to the door even though we had a light rain.  Still some candy left for me though, yum yum.  Here are our pumpkins from this year.

My favorite.

I know, white pumpkins, who'd have thought, eh? My kid wanted a ghost pumpkin and the mouth got a little carried away.....

It's a very ghostly pumpkin. If I was a ghost pumpkin, I'd have a facial expression just like that, for realz.

Wowee!! They are amazing!!

We don't do such things in Australia but this year we had some little kids come to our door and we didn't even know it was Halloween so we had to give them fruit (i am sure they were not impressed)

As long as they didn't throw it at your house, you're good to go. 8-)

I always get a little nostalgic for the USA at Halloween! (My family moved to Australia in 1979.) Trick or treating is growing here, but it's not a big thing yet. No one carves pumpkins!

That bat-monster pumpkin looks great lit up.

It's a fun break in the fall. You folks are part way through spring, aren't you? That must be nice weather for dressing up and being outside. Having the dark come early makes the holiday really atmospheric though. Are pumpkins a common food grown in gardens there? Pie, I tell you....now, on to Thanksgiving.

Awesome population of pumpkins! I love the little white one (but he's not lit up, ohnoes!). I think my kids would have strokes if we got an army of little white pumpkins instead of 4 big orange ones. Maybe next year.... :) Hope you had a good Halloween!

That little one just wouldn't stay lit. The white ones are still more expensive than an orange pumpkin so I think I might try to grow a vine next year. I'm still partial to the orange ones but the kid wanted to give that one a try. We roasted pumpkin seeds and they turned out pretty well. I suppose you put enough oil and salt on a hubcap and it would taste good too. My parents just arrived from out of town with 3 more pumpkins from their garden so looks like the Halloween fun will continue for another day or so. Turns out the dog loves pumpkin so she's happy.

We roasted pumpkin seeds for the first time this year. I made one batch with the traditional salt, pepper, oil and the other one with pumpkin pie spice and tons of brown sugar and a little oil. Me and my sweet tooth devoured the sweet seeds. Good luck growing your pumpkins!
