Make way for ducklings (and more snow)

We've had a few warm days finally and in the last couple of weeks when we were complaining about winter, one of our neighbors was busy building a house.  Evidently the remains of the clematis are perfect for a duck nest.  If our dog hadn't spooked her, I'd have never known she was there.

Her nest is in front of our house, right out the dining room window.  Sounds like she'll be there for a while.  Hopefully when she's done, we'll be full into spring and the plant will look like this.

We're supposed to get snow again tomorrow so who knows.....

More snow?! Oh no. I hope that's one hearty duck and the nest is insulated.

That duck is pretty dedicated. We got a couple of inches of snow last week and it was cold. She didn't budge off the nest until it warmed up and the snow melted. The nest is full of her feathers and she always covers them (and herself) up at night with leaves when it cools off or if she needs to leave it. I'm amazed at how well she blends in.
