April is the Cruelest Month

Where the heck is spring?  Pictures of right now in my backyard and the snow is still gently, steadily falling.  There are other parts of the north that have it worse than this.  We just had a statewide tornado drill so at least we're prepared for spring if it ever comes.

Chilly! My friends in Iowa and Illinois have bad flooding - here, finally it seems to be really spring and we have some flowers and normal stuff. It feels like a miracle.

Yeah...I can see how flooding could be a problem. It's really wet snow. I'm glad you're getting spring. That means it'll get here eventually.

I hope so!

O.O If that's spring, I'd hate to see winter. ;)

I'm originally from Minnesnowta where snow is a way of life. Now that I'm living in the south, the reality of snow and cold isn't an issue (we're running both air conditioners already), so pictures like that look novel and very pretty.

I hope it warms up for you soon.

I'm just outside the Twin Cities. I think we got spoiled with a couple of mild winters so we're out of practice. It does look very pretty. We've been without sunshine for a what seems like an eternity and that, more than anything, is wearing. I will think of you and your air conditioning kindly and with only a hint of envy.

Oops, sorry I didn't reply before. Messy inbox *hands*.

A fellow Midwesterner! I grew up in Bloomington (yeah, the Mall of America and all of that) and some of my family still lives there. I don't make it home often for visits because everyone comes to us, but one of these days I'd love to get home and do all the stuff that makes Minneapolis so much fun.

I think everyone is going to go collectively nuts here in MN if we don't get a spring soon. :/

They're coming to take me away.....We need to see the sun. Even that would be a big help. They don't make grow lights big enough for what we need. Have a safe drive if you go out and about.

We are up to 283" of snow for the year, and a storm is supposed to start tonight with up to 10" of heavy, wet snow and winds gusting 40 to 50 mph. The snowbanks on my road are still higher than my car, and even my horses seem depressed. I think I forgot what green grass looks like.
However, any flooding we get is usually very mild, we don't get hurricanes and tornadoes are a rare occurrence and earthquakes are nonexistent.
I am trying to look on the bright side of this never-ending winter, but I can empathize with you.

My parents are up in the Keweenaw and I grew up there. My Dad keeps sending me pictures of his 6' garden fence that has about a foot left showing. The UP is awesome if you can weather the snow and the black flies. I miss the big lake. I'm rooting for you all.

Thank you, we need all the support we can get (along with plows and salt trucks)! Everyone at work is getting sorta cranky, but this is the price we pay for our beautiful summers I guess.
Keweenaw county, that's a coincidence.
Yeah, the blackflies can be terrible, along the biting flies when you are at the beach and the wind is blowing in the wrong direction. But Lake Superior is beautiful and I can't wait to sit on a snow-less beach and watch a sunset.

But it looks so PRETTY!
(kaz says from Australia where it is warm so has no idea what it would be like to have snow in your backyard)

This is the wet, sticky kind of snow that is perfect for snowballs and snowpeople. The wet snow is heavier and more of a pain to shovel. We're far enough into the spring that it shouldn't hang around too long. It's still coming down right now though.

I know the feeling. Winter's dragged on and on here in the UK as well.

But...today it's warm and sunny. The first real day of spring and I'm just having a break after cutting the grass. :D

I'll waft a bit of warmth your way. *waft* XD
