Have a happy and merry...

For those celebrating something in the next couple of days, I wish you joy.  Have a lovely day even if you're not celebrating one of any number of holidays.  We celebrate Christmas, it's winter here and we just had the longest night of the year.  The kid has been counting down the days until NORAD starts tracking Santa.  It's a fun way to get a geography lesson.  I'll be disappearing into the kitchen for the duration - ham, roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, some sort of green thing and lemon meringue pie.  Molasses cookies tomorrow.  Here are the cookies decorated last weekend by the kid, who is 8.  We have to make them dairy-free because of an allergy.  Sugar cookies with no butter is quite a challenge but they turned out pretty well considering.

It's crazy but it's the biggest meal I do all year. Even Thanksgiving isn't quite as intense. The leftover ham gets frozen for New Year's so that helps. I do like to cook and having the picky child eat something (besides cookies) is a relief. Cheers back to you and yours. :-)
